  We are progressing well with our winter program with a great deal of work already been completed such as the path along the first fairway seawall, pathway from the bottom putting green, pathway from 16th to 17th Tees, new bunkers at the 9th Green and approach. Winter Program/ Course Maintenance

  Winter program:  work has begun with the much needed repair to the sleeper wall along the first fairway. Concrete was poured along the pathway  to help strengthen the wall and keep it in place in stormy weather this winter. Storms last year had washed away the ballast around the steel uprights which hold the sleeper wall in place making the wall vulnerable to being washed away. Hollow Coring & Over-Seeding (High Disturbance)

Greens: This past week we have been over-seeding greens and this was completed on thursday, we also carried out work around the greens surfaces to improve these areas. I realise these works can be frustrating especially when the weather is so good, but this is extremely important maintenance work to ensure that the greens are in the best possible condition for the rest of the year. Spring Maintenance

As part of our spring maintenance, fairways and tee surfaces have been sprayed for weeds and leather jackets. We had a perfect weather window and managed to complete the spraying within the week.May the weather continue! Rough: After a wet and mild winter the rough has started to become very thick and patchy in places. Winter program and irrigation update 3

Winter has started to arrive with a couple of frosty mornings this week which saw the 8th closed for two days with a heavy ground frost. Fortunately we where able to get the rest of the course open fairly quickly both mornings. Irrigation: MJ Abbott arrived back on Monday after a 3 day break. Winter Program & Irrigation Update 2

The irrigation update has got under way with the marking out of the fairways by Irritech who are the club’s irrigation consultant. This is still done by hand believe it or not as GPS is not always as precise as a measuring tape. Once the fairway is marked out the positions of the heads are GPS recorded.
