Winter Program Update
It’s been a busy few weeks on the course with the winter program in full swing, October’s projects are coming along nicely with good germination of the hydro-seeding on the practice area and the new mounding on the 10th. The construction of the 3 new bunkers on the 10th were also completed this week, i think the team have done an exceptional job in some pretty awful weather!.The new 3rd tees are also starting to take shape, the first stage was to build a stone wall to keep the tee in place which took around 40 tonnes of granite and stone.
Then around 250 tonnes of sub soil was brought in to create the new tee complex, which was then topped off with 60 tonnes of sandy root zone to finish the ground works. The new tee complex consists of a new championship tee for low handicap events or if you’ve had your Weetabix and simply fancy a go! , a new medal tee which has been raised, moved back 10 yards and yellow tee area remaining at the same distance but also raised to increase visibility off the tee by around 1.5ft. The Next stage will be to level the tees and then fit irrigation to each of the 3 tees. To finish off the tee surfaces, turf will be used and marram grass will be planted around the tee complex to give a natural links look to the mounding.
On the 3rd carrie, work has also started to lower the mound with the white stone, increasing visibility from the 3rd tee area which will also help with the safety of the hole.
Construction of a new pathway to the new 3rd tees is also taking place which will tidy the line of sight to the 2nd green moving the pathway right also making it easier to access the new 3rd tees.
